Liza Macepura
Founder, Head Coach & Judge
With 17 years of experience as a professional rhythmic gymnast in both Latvia and England, I am proud to have been the Latvian Champion in Aesthetic Group Gymnastics and a Level 4 gymnast in the UK. My accomplishments include becoming the 2017 NDP Finals Hoop Champion, securing 3rd place in Ball and Overall, and qualifying for the English Championships. I also bring over a decade of competitive-level coaching experience from working with various clubs in London and Riga. As a UKCC Level 2 coach and Level 3 Regional Judge, my commitment to the sport runs deep.

During my first three years in the UK, I balanced university studies, coaching, and competing until I was 22—I simply couldn't let go of gymnastics! With my mother, aunt, and grandmother all involved in gymnastics, I was destined to follow in their footsteps when I entered the gym at the age of five. Little did I know that this would spark a lifelong passion and become my greatest love.

I began rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 3 in Turkey, where I competed nationally and internationally as both an individual and group gymnast, achieving major successes including becoming Turkish Champion. As part of a group, I often took on the role of leader, supporting and managing my team. After moving to London, I continued my career at a high competitive level (Levels 4 and 5) in the UK, regularly medaling at events such as the Open British, NDP Finals, Grades, and London Championships. I was also honoured to be selected as one of only 13 senior gymnasts to represent Diamond Level in the UK, which gave me the opportunity to take part in the English and British Championships.

Alongside competing, I have developed my skills as both a judge and a coach. I currently hold UKCC Level 1 Coaching and Level 2 Judging qualifications, and I enjoy using my knowledge to support, guide, and inspire younger gymnasts. With over 14 years of experience in the sport, I bring not only technical expertise but also the discipline, resilience, and passion that rhythmic gymnastics has instilled in me.

My journey with rhythmic gymnastics began when I was just 3 years old in Iran, and from that moment, the sport became a part of who I am. Over the years, I proudly became a five-time national medalist, but beyond the medals, it was the artistry, discipline, and passion of gymnastics that truly shaped me. As a child, I always dreamed of one day becoming a coach in the UK. It felt like a faraway goal, but it kept me motivated and determined through every challenge. Today, I feel so grateful to have achieved this dream and to be living a future I once only imagined.

For me, coaching is more than teaching skills — it’s about inspiring confidence, resilience, and joy in every child who steps into the gym. I believe every gymnast has unique potential, and I’m dedicated to helping them discover their strength, creativity, and love for the sport. Rhythmic gymnastics has given me so much, and now it is my greatest privilege to give back by guiding the next generation on their own journeys.

With over a decade of experience as a competitive rhythmic gymnast, the sport has profoundly shaped my life. I competed at Levels 4 and 5, skillfully balancing my academic commitments with my passion for gymnastics. I am now honored to contribute to the sport as a judge, holding UKCC Level 2 Coaching and Level 2 County Judge certifications.

Rhythmic gymnastics has instilled in me invaluable life skills such as discipline, resilience, and consistency from a young age, while igniting my passion for the sport's unique blend of beauty and intensity. As I witness the growth of rhythmic gymnastics in the UK, I am excited to share my love for the sport and inspire future generations to experience the joy and personal development it has brought to my life.

As an energetic child, my parents enrolled me in rhythmic gymnastics at age six, sparking a passion that led me to compete for over a decade in events such as NDP, the English Championships, and an international competition in France. Balancing training with exams, work, and social life reinforced my deep connection to the sport.

After an injury ended my competitive career, I transitioned into coaching and judging, allowing me to stay involved and support the next generation of gymnasts. Helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence is incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful to contribute to the sport I love.

Starting gymnastics at five years old, I dedicated over 11 years to the sport, competing at a high level, including internationally. Balancing academics, social life, and intense training, I developed a deep passion for gymnastics. However, after seven years, an injury cut my career short. Taking a year off made me realize how much I missed the sport, leading me to return to competition.

As my injury impacted my technique, I sought new ways to stay involved. Now a UKCC Level 1 coach and Level 1 club judge, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of gymnasts. Watching rhythmic gymnastics grow and inspiring young athletes reminds me why I fell in love with the sport, and I look forward to shaping its future.
